Each and everyday I am grateful to have a "job" that I love. I strongly believe that I am the luckiest person in the world because I am able to touch the lives of so many others. Not only do I have the students at the school, I also get their parents, their families, their outside activities, etc. This is what makes my job so special.
This past year, I was honored with two special awards. The first award was Discovery's Teacher of the Year. I am so grateful to have been recognized by my peers with this award. I am still in shock that I was chosen because I feel the entire school has such amazing educators. I consider myself lucky for this too, my fellow colleagues. The second award was special to me because I was able to represent Discovery Elementary at a county level. I was nominated for the Broward County Schools - Staff of Character Award and I was selected as one of 20 winners across the district. It was a special year for me because of these recognitions, however, this is not why I teach.
I teach because I know that each year, I get better at what I do. I teach because I want my students to have an enjoyable time learning and discovering new things. I teach because there is no greater feeling in the world than when a student is excited to come to school. I teach because I find the students are able to teach me new things, each and every single day! I teach because I want my students to have a love of reading and to understand just how far reading can take them in life, whether in their dreams or reality. I teach because I simply can't imagine doing anything else, EVER! I am truly blessed to be your child's third grade teacher!
